Criminal Injury Compensation Claims

Criminal injury refers to the injuries a person has sustained as a result of crime, whether they be physical or mental. For example, you may have been the victim of a robbery or a mugging, and you may have been beaten up, or even stabbed during the incident. And of course these types of crimes come with their own emotional trauma for the victim.

If you or a loved one has suffered some type of criminal injury, you may be eligible for compensation off the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA). If you can prove that you were injured through criminal activity undertaken by someone else then you have a great chance of claiming a fair amount of compensation; the CICA has no interest in trying to avoid paying out compensation.

Compensation amounts from the CICA can vary as they are dependant on your injuries, and the impact they have had on your life. There are 25 different levels of payout, and the CICA will consider compensation claims for death, injury and severe mental anguish caused by crimimal activity.
