Some victims need more than just money
While most people now agree that the “compensation culture” the media has been banging on about for years is greatly exaggerated, it still feels as though we are in the mind set of “what can I get” rather than “what do I deserve” when it comes to compensation in the UK. I’m sure it would be an interesting exercise, though probably not a surprising result, if we offered all the claimants looking for compensation for “mental anguish” the choice of: a) free therapy and unlimited sessions with a professional councillor, OR, b) £500 in cash … would most of them take the money? We have asked some potential claimants that question on occasion and it bothers us that most of them only want money when on their claim applications they put things like “I will never get over it”.
